Your Rights Don't Expire. Your Letter Shouldn't Either.

ESA and PSD letters are valid for 12 months. Keeping yours current means your documentation stays legally recognized — so you can keep exercising the rights you're entitled to.

🎯

Why renewing is what keeps the rights you already have

The answer when your letter is about to lapse

You're here because your letter is approaching expiration — or has already expired — and you're trying to head off the friction before it lands. A current letter is what every landlord, airline, and accommodation request actually asks for. An expired one is the document that lets a property manager or carrier push back without legal exposure on their side.

Renewal is the cheapest insurance you can buy against that friction. $99 keeps every protection you currently have intact, refreshes the date your landlord cares about, and ensures your clinician can still vouch for you if a housing verification form lands on their desk.

Why Renew Annually

Landlords increasingly request letters issued within the past 12 months
Some airlines prefer current documentation
Your circumstances may have changed — an updated letter reflects your current situation
If your landlord asks your clinician to complete a housing verification form, our clinicians won't complete one tied to a letter older than 12 months — they need to confirm you still require the accommodation for your mental health. A current letter keeps that path open if a landlord requests it
Renewing maintains your record in the PawPassRx verified registry

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to renew every year?
No — renewal is optional. However, many landlords request a letter issued within the past 12 months, and an expired letter may be questioned. We strongly recommend keeping your letter current if you rely on it for housing.
What if my situation has changed?
The renewal questionnaire asks about your current situation. If your condition or animal has changed significantly, the licensed professional reviewing your renewal will take that into account.
Can I switch from an ESA letter to a PSD letter at renewal?
Yes, but it would be a new PSD letter purchase rather than a renewal, since PSD letters require assessing your dog's task training. Contact us and we'll help you through the process.
Is my renewal information kept private?
Yes. All health information is protected under HIPAA. Your questionnaire responses are only seen by the licensed professional reviewing your renewal.
