Veteran-Owned & Operated

Built on knowledge. Backed by licensed professionals.

PawPassRx exists to help people understand their legal rights — and get the documents to exercise them.

Our story

Millions of Americans live with service dogs, emotional support animals, and psychiatric service dogs. Federal law gives them meaningful protections — under the ADA, FHA, and ACAA. But a flood of online "registries" and instant-certificate sites has confused the public, frustrated landlords, and put real handlers at risk when their paperwork doesn't hold up.

PawPassRx was founded with one goal: help handlers understand the actual laws that protect them — the ADA, FHA, and ACAA — and give them the documentation required to exercise those rights in the real world. Knowledge first. Documents second. Honesty throughout.

A note from the founder

Hi — I'm Cody S.

I spent six years in the U.S. Army as a 68W combat medic. After leaving the service, I moved into the service dog and emotional support animal industry — and what I found there was a mess. Registries that promise things federal law doesn't actually guarantee. Landlords (rightly) suspicious of paperwork that came from a website badge. Handlers — including a lot of veterans — getting burned twice: once by the bad actors, and again when their documentation didn't hold up where it counted.

PawPassRx exists because the alternative shouldn't be that hard to find. Our primary purpose is education over sales. The blog, the rights guides, the FAQ, the quiz — those exist for everyone whether they buy anything from us or not. The site will tell you when you don't need a letter, when registration won't actually help, and when a service dog is the wrong category for your situation. If we can help, that's why we're here. If we can't, the information is still yours.

That "do right by the handler first" stance isn't a marketing line. It's the only reason I built this.

What makes us different

Four commitments we hold ourselves to — no exceptions.

Honesty first

We tell you what registration can't do (it's not legally required). We tell you ESA airline rights changed in 2021. We'd rather lose a sale than mislead you.

Real licensed professionals

Our ESA and PSD letters are written by licensed mental health professionals who conduct genuine consultations. No automated letters. No rubber stamps.

People-first guidance

The quiz doesn't push you toward the most expensive product. It recommends what actually fits your situation — even if that means we tell you that you don't need anything from us.

No hidden subscriptions

All bundles are one-time purchases. Letters are annual (they need to be kept current), and we're upfront about that from the start.

Our commitment to accuracy

PawPassRx is a YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) business. The content we publish affects real legal and financial decisions. Because of that, we hold ourselves to a high standard:

  • All rights and legal content is sourced to primary federal sources (ADA.gov, HUD.gov, DOT.gov)
  • Letter product pages are reviewed by licensed mental health professionals
  • We update content when laws change — not just when it's convenient
  • We display "Last reviewed" dates on all legal content

The legal and rights information on this site is reviewed for accuracy by licensed professionals. All information is current as of 2026. This is not legal advice — for advice specific to your situation, consult a licensed attorney.
